If your practice sessions don't have a timer, aren't multiple-choice, or let you flip back to your notes mid-question, you're practicing a different skill than the one you'll need on test day. Time-boxed MCQ practice — even in short 20-30 minute sessions — builds both subject recall and the pacing instinct that prevents you from running out of time on the real exam.

Wrong answers are more useful than right ones

The instinct after getting a question wrong is to move on quickly, especially if it stings. Resist it. A wrong answer is the most efficient signal you'll get about exactly where a gap in your understanding is — far more precise than a general topic like "weak in Chemistry." Read the explanation, understand exactly which step went wrong, and note the specific concept. Revisiting a short list of your own past mistakes a few days later is one of the highest-value things you can do with limited prep time, because it directly targets what you don't yet know instead of re-covering what you already do.

Spread it out — cramming doesn't survive the exam

Studying a topic once, even thoroughly, produces memory that fades within days. Studying it again a few days later, and again a week after that, is what moves it into longer-term memory that survives until exam day. This is why students who start structured practice six to eight weeks out consistently outperform those who try to compress the same number of hours into the final two weeks — it's not about total hours, it's about whether those hours are spaced apart enough for the material to actually stick.

A practical way to start this week

Pick one subject, set a 20-minute timer, and answer as many MCQs as you can without looking anything up. Check your answers immediately, read the explanation for every question you got wrong — including the ones you guessed right on — and write down the specific concept behind each mistake. Repeat with a different subject tomorrow. That single habit, repeated consistently, will move your score more than another week of re-reading the same chapter.
