About the Institute
Established on 1 January 1864 under British rule and granted university status in 2002, GCU is one of Pakistan's oldest and most prestigious institutions of higher learning, with roughly 17,994 students. It operates the historic Old Campus (56 acres) on Katchery Road and a newer Kala Shah Kaku Campus (370 acres, opened 2020). Alumni include Nobel laureates Abdus Salam and Har Gobind Khorana, national poet Muhammad Iqbal, and four Pakistani Prime Ministers.
