About the Institute
Officially Government Postgraduate Islamia College Gujranwala, originally established in 1912 as Khalsa High School (a Sikh educational trust), upgraded to Guru Nanak Khalsa College in 1918, renamed Islamia College in 1947 after partition, nationalized as a government college in 1972, and upgraded to postgraduate status in 1990. It is one of the oldest colleges in Punjab, with notable alumni including former President Muhammad Rafiq Tarar.
