About the Institute
Government National College traces its origins to the National College, founded in 1956 by the National Educational Society, with Professor Hasan Adil as its first head. The government nationalized it on 1 September 1972. It offers Science, Arts and Commerce faculties up to degree level, is affiliated with the University of Karachi, and was one of ten public colleges selected in 2001 for a pilot BS Computer Science program.
